McIntyre Falls 02/07/2005

Another classic weekend at McIntyre. Vickie, Scott and I headed out early Friday and managed to get an afternoon session in before we got caught by a flash flood in the gorge. We packed up pronto and raced down river to try and get ahead of the wave of water that was rushing downstream. After beating it past a couple of ponds we hopped across. As Scott was taking of his rock shoes and putting on his runners, we watched our path across get flooded by a torrent of water. An exciting first afternoon.

Due to the heightened gorge level we were forced to do a bit of exploring on Saturday as the good old faith areas were inaccessible. After a long mornings walking, we found a classic area in the forest filled with high quality granite boulders. We managed a number of excellent lines before heading back to camp for happy hour. Sunday morning also was taken up with a bit of exploration, but eventually all the looking around paid off as we stumbled across another expansive area of quality granite. As the day was running late we only managed a handful of problems, but we will return.
